When did the impact of COVID-19 first occur to you? How did your reaction to COVID-19 change between then and the first case in your town?

March 13, 2020. My reaction remained the same from that date.

More cautious about interactions with people I do not know well or at all

Exercise, reading, keeping busy help to relieve my stress.

What have you noticed has changed in your community since the outbreak? What has surprised you?

Fewer community activities. The ways people have created to do things differently while trying to maintain a sense of normalcy.

Yes, teaching remotely is a challenge. Interactions with others is different.

Teaching via Zoom

Did you have to postpone any major life events? (e.g. Graduation, wedding, major birthday) What did you do instead?

Holidays were very difficult. Our normal gatherings were canceled or limited to immediate family.

Do you have animals? Did you adopt a pet? How have they impacted your day?

What positive things did you contribute to or notice take place?

The people attending the classes I teach were very appreciative of our efforts. It was a way to make a connection when in person activities were canceled.

Did you or someone you know contract COVID-19? What was it like?

A friend was extremely ill. She has since recovered but is still experiencing lasting effects

What do you wish you knew before the pandemic began?

How isolating it was going to be.

What would you want future generations to know about the 2020 pandemic? How would you recommend they prepare for it?

They should prepare for the varied opinions that abound regarding every aspect of the situation. They need to know how to sift through all the information to find the best answer to their questions.
