When did the impact of COVID-19 first occur to you? How did your reaction to COVID-19 change between then and the first case in your town?
Well, it didn't really effect me much until the quarantine (I don't usually keep up to date on current news - no phone), but I have heard about it since then, though so far I know the death rate is low, compared to things like the flu. I still think we're overreacting a bit, I don't think I know anyone personally who has caught it, though I do understand the risk for the young, elderly, or already sick with something else.
How is your life different now than it was before the pandemic?
All the summer camps were closed, and the ones that weren't are either online or with masks. And of course the end of school was completely virtual. Funnily enough, I've been going outside a lot more and my family's been able to do some work outside.
How are you feeling? What are you doing to relieve stress?
I'm still feeling normal and I hope we can go back to school for real in September. I've been reading a lot (wait I do that anyway) and doing more crafts with my sister.
What have you noticed has changed in your community since the outbreak? What has surprised you?
??? I haven't been out of the house too much.
Are you a business owner who has had to close? If you are still open, how have you had to adjust how your business operates?
n/a
Are you an essential employee? What do you do? What precautions are being taken at your workplace? What precautions are implementing at home?
n/a
Are you an employee who has been laid off or furloughed? Were you able to get unemployment? Were you able to retain your health insurance?
n/a
Are you working from home? What adjustments or challenges are you experiencing?
n/a
Do you have children at home? How’s it going?
I am the child
If you’re a student, was school canceled? Were you able to complete your studies online? Do you think you’ll be back on campus in the fall?
Yes, the end of school was cancelled. I was able to complete my studies but I strongly disliked the virtual learning, as I like having more order to school and being able to see people in person. I certainly hope I'll be back on campus in fall.
Did you have to postpone any major life events? (e.g. Graduation, wedding, major birthday) What did you do instead?
n/a
Do you have animals? Did you adopt a pet? How have they impacted your day?
Yes we have a dog and a fish and a crayfish. We had them before COVID though.
What positive things did you contribute to or notice take place?
I think more people got outside to play or go for walks (Ironically)
Did you or someone you know contract COVID-19? What was it like?
n/a
If you lost someone during the pandemic, how did you celebrate their lives?
n/a
What do you wish you knew before the pandemic began?
I don't know.
What would you want future generations to know about the 2020 pandemic? How would you recommend they prepare for it?
Though I do understand that people can be at risk of death from this virus. I haven't had any first hand contact with it so I guess that means quarantine is working, but I still believe we might be overreacting. And honestly, if people who could survive it got it it would build uop immune systems for the future.
How do you think this pandemic will change how we behave going forward? What will the “new normal” look like?
Who knows, I hope we can start not wearing masks in public though.
Is there anything else you would like to add that hasn't already been asked above?
